Legislative action needed to provide permanence.
Last week, President Biden responded to the recent shootings in the nation by announcing a number of executive orders to combat the issue. The president aims to impose tighter regulations on homemade firearms, known as “ghost guns” due to their lack of serial numbers, and plans to ban assault weapons.
However, the implementation of these executive orders highlights their lack of permanence, especially in the wake of the previous administration. It was a simple matter for President Biden to rescind many of President Trump’s orders once he assumed office. The legislative branch will need to pass related laws in order for these changes to last.
